According to EPA ENERGY STAR, reducing energy use by 30% is equivalent to increasing building asset value and net operating income by 5%. Water utility rates have increased by 25% over the last five years and will continue to rise as resources are depleted. Furthermore, the majority of the waste stream in office buildings is recyclable or reusable. As sustainability becomes the norm, office buildings that do not address these issues will face challenges.

Owners and managers of green office buildings benefit from reduced operating costs, increased value, and tenant attraction and retention, while tenants experience reduced operating expenses and improved employee health and productivity. Since utility costs are an office building’s single largest operating expense, developing a sustainability strategy is necessary to remain competitive in the marketplace.

JDM provides sustainability solutions to the office sector including the development and implementation of portfolio-wide strategies, benchmarking, policy development, standard operating procedures, training, green building certifications, energy procurement, and marketing and outreach programs.
