JDM assists CalPERS to implement California’s Environmental Initiative (formerly known as “Green Wave”), which encourages the state’s public pension funds to reduce the environmental impact of their real estate investments. JDM assists CalPERS and its investment partners by assessing Environmental Initiative activities, developing consistent benchmarking and reporting procedures, calculating energy savings and greenhouse gas reductions in CalPERS investment real estate portfolio, and recommending new policies to enable CalPERS and its partners to achieve Environmental Initiative goals – while enhancing financial returns for annuitants. We also provide technical and strategic guidance to CalPERS and its partners on “greening” their $20 billion portfolio of office, multifamily, industrial, and retail real estate investments.
