JDM is assisting UDR, one of the nation’s largest multifamily REITs, to develop and implement a sustainability program for its existing and new communities that improves environmental performance, reduces operating and construction costs, and maximizes return on investment. JDM’s holistic approach integrates sustainable operation and development strategies into all levels of UDR’s organization, involving senior executives, regional managers, asset managers, property management teams, design and construction teams, and residents. JDM develops policies, plans, and technical guidance for UDR, including comprehensive sustainability guidelines that have established a portfolio-wide baseline of environmental sustainability for all existing and new communities.

Additionally, JDM evaluates the environmental performance of UDR communities, providing technical guidance and return on investment analyses for energy and water efficiency, renewable energy, and waste management projects. In support of these efforts, we have developed education and training programs for UDR’s development staff, property management teams, and residents that focus on green innovations, community design, and operational strategies. Currently, JDM is managing UDR’s LEED certification efforts for six communities nationwide.
