JDM assists TIAA-CREF to improve the energy and environmental performance of its office real estate investment holdings of more than 40 million square feet, multifamily investment holdings consisting of more than 11,500 units, and retail and industrial properties. JDM has helped TIAA-CREF to save more than $48 million in energy costs in four and a half years.

JDM works to improve sustainability throughout the organization by developing portfolio-wide resource management strategies and programs, and providing technical and strategic guidance. To date, JDM has helped 94 TIAA-CREF properties receive the ENERGY STAR label signifying superior energy performance. With JDM’s assistance, TIAA-CREF earned the prestigious ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year award for energy management for two consecutive years (2008 and 2009) and earned the ENERGY STAR program's highest level of recognition, Sustained Excellence, in 2010, 2011, and 2012.
