John Klein has more than 35 years of experience in the commercial real estate, financing, construction, and energy efficiency industries. John serves as the Chief Executive Officer and is responsible for business development, project oversight, and financial management of contracts. He regularly provides strategy and direction to the largest owners, managers, developers, and brokers of commercial real estate, and has assisted CEOs and CFOs of leading commercial real estate organizations to make transformative changes to their organizations.
He has provided key strategic and technical guidance on improving the operational, financial and environmental performance of hundreds of millions of square feet of commercial real estate. Further, he was involved in the development of the EPA Energy Star program for commercial real estate and persuaded owners of more than 2 billion square feet to join Energy Star. John regularly promotes the concept that sustainability and financial performance are linked. He has authored numerous published articles, including the Green Scene column in the Journal of Property Management, and is a co-author of “A Practical Guide to Green Real Estate Management” and “A Practical Guide to Energy Management” from the Institute of Real Estate Management. He was awarded two U.S. Patents for developing technology for energy and water-efficient geothermal heat pumps and on-site fire protection, water storage and distribution systems. John has also served as an expert witness and testified before the U.S. Congress, has held real estate brokers licenses in four Mid-Atlantic States, and has been certified as a Real Estate Instructor in 13 states. John is a service-disabled veteran and received his formal education from the University of Pennsylvania.
